Paper manufacturing requires large quantities of PCC (precipitated calcium carbonate) to maximize the whiteness, opacity, and consistency of the paper. The base component of paper, pulp, also requires lime during the manufacturing stage. PCC is also used in other industries, such as paints and coatings or flooring coatings.
